On June 19, 2009 at approximately 0200 hours Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of vandalism in the Deschutes Riverwoods subdivision on the south end of Bend.  Deputies received information that numerous stop signs and mailboxes had been damaged throughout the Deschutes Riverwoods subdivision.

While investigating the initial complaint, deputies found 12 stop signs and 3 mailboxes damaged at various locations in the subdivision.  Evidence found at several locations indicated a vehicle was the cause of the damage.  This evidence assisted deputies in locating a vehicle associated with and operated by Kevin Hallam.  Hallam was arrested and released on a criminal citation for charges of Criminal Mischief I and Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver.

Sheriff’s deputies are continuing the investigation to determine if there were others involved in these acts.  If anyone has information regarding these incidents or believes they are a victim, they should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 388-6655 or the 911 non-emergency number 693-6911.  Sheriff’s deputies are still investigating the possibility that alcohol may have been a factor in this incident.
